This isn’t a publicity shot from an apocalyptic movie about climate change: this is New York City, last Friday morning.
Over night, temperatures in the city fell to a low of -17°C, a record for the time of year, leaving the island of Manhattan temporarily encased in ice. The all time record low temperature in the city was -26°C, set in 1934.
Not that we’re telling New Yorkers to quit whining, you understand, as it’s still bloody cold. The temperature is expected to drop to -15°C again tonight.
